Fantastic Travels - Chicago Comic-Con 2009

Hello there, the name is Reed and I accompanied The Articulated One on his trip to Chicago this weekend. He was pretty busy making contacts and shopping, so I explored the convention floor on my own, occasionally stepping into the frame so you can see me too! Read my photo-journal of the Chicago Comic-Con in the first ever edition of:

The trip started out with a nice 6 hour drive, 4 hours of which TAO was asleep and I had to drive. Forunately, because I have stretching superpowers, reaching the pedals wasn't a problem.

I couldn't believe it, but TAO just had to have internet on the way to the convention. He said something about "rabid fans" and "daily updates", so I helped him set it up on the road.

Once we got to the actual convention, little time was spent moseying around, and we headed right inside. While TAO had some trouble with his press badge initially, I took a gander at this interesting piece in the lobby. It's a huge recreation of a comic book cover using colored chalk. I'm just wondering why I wasn't on the cover of choice!

As we started to explore, I noticed TAO had wandered off somewhere. I took a look around for a while, and finally found him at the booth below (that's not him in the picture). Anytime I couldn't find my convention partner, I just headed over to this spot, because for some reason, he always seemed to be near it.

There are some crazy people in costumes, and this one evidently thought I looked pretty tasty. I'll never get the spit out of my costume

This was my favorite sight from the whole convention, a giant 12-foot tall Optimus Prime. Supposedly, there was a human being inside. TAO suggested that we make a giant Megatron, and show up next year for a fight. There seemed to be a lot of people on this guy's side, so I think I'll pass on that suggestion.

I had a great time at the convention. There were a ton of people there, even if it is a "smaller" one. I got lost a few times, bumped into 100 different people, and smelt like a rotten tomato by the time I left. Despite how crowded, hot, loud, and stinky it was, I enjoyed it a lot. I sure do hope TAO is willing to take me to another, because I met a few nice girls at the various toy shops. The picture below might express just how much I really wanted to stay for another day or two.

That's all the pictures I have for this trip, but next time we hit the road together, I'll be sure to bring you another update!
