Guest Review - Transformers Classics - Bumblebee

[TAO: Transformers Week has brought on another guest reviewer here at Articulated Discussion, this time another familiar name, TheSoundwaveGuy. He's taking a quick look at Hasbro's Transformers Classics Bumblebee release from a few years ago. Is this little guy really a classic, or is he going to sting you instead? Read on to see!]

Part of the classics line from 2006 this figure displays Bumblebee before he turned into the poster boy of Transformers. The small likeable guy is definitely a favorite among many. So before you see Revenge of the Fallen let’s take a look at the bots from the 80’s.

8 / 10 - This line is meant to update the characters to look modern but still recognizable as their original selves and this figure does a great job at that. His vehicle mode is no longer a VW Beetle but is still a small little yellow car. There are some little cracks and mold lines in this mode but nothing major. In robot mode Bee retains much of his Generation one self and has many nice, new little added details.

6 / 10 - Bumblebee doesn’t have much paint; he’s mostly just cast in the color plastic. Though the color of his chest, which becomes the car roof, is a different color which isn’t a huge problem but definitely noticeable.

7 / 10 - There isn’t a load of articulation here but there’s enough to get things done. He has a ball jointed neck, ball jointed shoulders, ball jointed elbows, ball jointed hips, and swivel thighs. As you can see Bee has many balls [Sounds like Devastator from ROTF!].

9 / 10 - It’s Bumblebee, who doesn’t love Bumblebee? With a decent amount of articulation, a fun transformation, and being an iconic character in the Transformers universe makes this a very fun figure. He also comes with this Jet Ski which can turn, err transform into a jet pack, wing thingy.

6 / 10 - This is kind of hard for me to rate. If you got this at retail for $10 then you could probably give this category an 8 but if you spend more than $20 on this then give this a 5. It depends on how much you get him for, but you are paying to get a popular character

Overall Score: 72 / 100 - This is a Good Toy

Bumblebee isn’t amazing but he’s a fun figure of a popular guy.
