This review is for a Mattel DC Universe Classics Toys R Us Exclusive two pack featuring Cyborg Superman and Mongul. Both of these figures are rereleases from Mattel's previous DC Super Heroes line but get new life here (thankfully for Cyborg Superman fans who may have had trouble tracking him down last time). This two pack features two good figures that any Superman or DC Comics fan needs to have on their shelf.

Sculpt
Starting with Cyborg Superman, his sculpt is literally half fantastic and half boring, although never bad. His cyborg body parts have lots of nice technological looking details and shapes that properly enunciate his cybernetic nature. The work on his face and jaw is particularly good with a scary looking skeletal metal shape. The human half of this figure is a lot more standard and appears to share the same sculpt as the standard superman figure from DCSH. It's not bad sculpting by any means, with appropriate muscles groups and shapes, but it doesn't stand out either. His legs still suffer from the V syndrome where you can't bring them together, so he can never stand straight up. Mongul is a larger figure that has a nice imposing stature. He also has lots of tight costume details with rivets, a high tech belt, and various other details sculpted right in instead of just relying on paint. Mongul's face sculpt is full of wrinkles with a constipated looking expression, clinched teeth and all.Mongul's sculpt fails in a couple areas, first of which is the size problem on his boots. They're humongous, and though they hold him up well, they just look unnaturally big. On the opposite end, his head feels just a little too small to me.
Cyborg Superman Sculpt Score: 8 / 10 - Nice details in cyborg areas, strong face sculpt, human side is suitable if a little boring, leg stance is too wide.
Mongul Sculpt Score: 7 / 10 - Great sculpted costume details, good imposing size, weird but not bad facial expression, feet too big and head too small.
Paint
Cyborg Superman's paint is okay but features some problems. The colors are all great and work for him. He looks like Superman, and he's supposed to. The skin tone is good, the metal is a nice bright silver, and both the blue and the red look just right. The first problem is that his trunks don't match his boots or cape at all; they are a significant shade darker. I think it's because of the different style of plastic the paint is on, but it could be fixed. He also has two spots of blue, left shoulder and inner thigh, where it looks like the paint didn't get applied all the way and it's a lot lighter color. Mongul's paint is really spot on in application with crisp lines, nice color separations and crazy small painted details like pink rivets. The pink rivets are where I have a problem though, these color combinations just look rediculous. I can't seem to find an image of Mongul that uses this exact costume, and if someone could point me to one, it'd be much appreciated. I wish they had retooled the figure to feature his more recent costume, because these giant bright pink boots just look silly.
Cyborg Superman Paint Score: 7 / 10 - Colors are great, applications are solid in most spots but two crazy color deficit areas and some color mismatch across plastics.
Mongul Paint Score: 7 / 10 - Great applications with tight lines and very fine details, but look at these colors, they're silly looking.
Articulation
Cyborg Superman and Mongul both feature the standard DC Universe Classics articulation which means they have plenty of different points. Cyborg Superman has points that are nice and tight, unlike a lot of my previous DCSH figures, which is a relief. Just his right bicep swivel suffers from a bit of a gummy joint, but it's not terribly bad. His articulation works really well with the sculpt, especially in the cyborg areas, and it's hard to identify sneak joints like his thigh swivel. Mongul's articulation is equally tight and functional, yet he suffers from a frozen right elbow joint. I've tried to free it up, and can't really get it. I'm afraid to try any harder for fear of snapping it off. Mongul's articulation doesn't take away from his sculpt either, which is always nice.
Cyborg Superman Articulation Score: 9 / 10 - Great looking points that mesh with the sculpt, lots of points, tight joints that hold weight and offer poseability, just one loose spot.
Mongul Articulation Score: 8 / 10 - Lots of mobility for such a large figure, nicely sculpted joints that don't distract visually, frozen right elbow that's a real pain.
Fun
Cyborg Superman is a super fun character whether you know his story or not. Who doesn't want to see a half-robot Superman? Kids and collectors love Superman and this fun take on the character's design is equally fun. The figure itself has plenty of articulation to look great in displays or beat the heck out of superheroes in play scenes. He doesn't come with any accessories, which would always be nice, but his natural characteristics almost make up for it. Mongul is another fun character design that's big and scary. Kids look at Mongul will know he's a bad guy and can fight anybody else and collectors should have fun posing him menacingly. His great articulation doesn't hurt, although his slightly goofy costume might. He too doesn't feature any accessories, and a Black Mercy seems like a natural pack-in for this rerelease to up the fun.
Cyborg Superman Fun Score: 8 / 10 - Fun design and look, loads of articulation to make play and pose a blast, no accessories to boost score.
Mongul Fun Score: 8 / 10 - Although featuring no accessories, he is big and mean looking, full of articulation to improve functionality in play.
Value
This two pack retailed for about $22 makin each figure come out at $11. This isn't a bad price for 6" action figures anymore, and these two, especially Mongul feel worth it. Cyborg Superman isn't a large figure, but he's not small either. He feels well made and durable enough to be worth $11, but some accessories or a build a figure piece would really help move his value higher. Mongul feels like a huge hunk of plastic in your hands which always makes figures seem more valuable. He's solid as well, but quality control problems like his frozen elbow can really drop that feeling. Again, accessories or a collect and connect piece to build an extra figure would be nice.
Cyborg Superman Value Score: 7 / 10 - Not a bad price, but not a whole lot comes with it either. Well made figure, but that's it.
Mongul Value Score: 8 / 10 - Big and durable figure, no accessories and a frozen joint pull score down.
