Toy Haul - Chicago Comic-Con 2009

I don't like to do a lot of shopping on the first full day of a convention, but I couldn't resist a few of these items. I'm sure this won't be all I pick up, so check out the first day's haul from the Chicago Comic-Con and come back over the next couple days to see any additions. Deals and freebies, all come together in this installment of:

It's hard to believe that in my "hesitance" to purchase anything today, I actually came home with seven new figures. Because it's such an odd assortment, I'll help to clarify what you're looking at in the image below. Up top is the Sideshow Hellboy Abe Sapian (explanation later), the Masters of the Universe Classics Zodac, Shocker Toys' Maxx and Dick Tracy, and finally a full set of the NECA SFIV Series 2 figures (Guile, Chun Li, Akuma).

Immediately in question might be why on earth I'd purchase a Sideshow Collectibles Abe Sapien figure in a wrecked package, and that's a great question indeed. The answer is simple, it was only $10, and who can pass up a 12 inch figure at that price! The nice fellows over at the Shocker Toys booth (one of the only toy companies at the Con) gave up a SDCC Exclusive Dick Tracy review sample (review early next week!), and to return the favor, I purchased the Maxx (I've wanted him for a while anyhow). I know I've been bad-mouthing the Masters of the Universe Classics line, but the Zodac pictured above was priced a little below his MattyCollector.com price, and I couldn't resist the temptation. I might end up with Mer-Man, Man-at-Arms, and even Hordak before the show is over, but we'll see.

The final three figures are from the NECA Street Fighter IV line, and just now becoming available. I've been anxiously awaiting these three toys since I reviewed (and loved) Series 1, and these look just as wonderful. I'm excited to tear them out of the package when I get the chance, and I'm willing to bet they all score over 85 in my reviews. Only time and will tell.

My favorite purchase of the day? Without a doubt, Guile. One of my favorite video game characters of all time, and this figure looks superb!
