After spending waaaaaaay too much money at the San Diego Comic-Con last month (there are figures I still haven't mentioned here), I set a strict goal for myself upon arriving at the Baltimore Comic-Con. It wasn't a budgetary goal proper, mind you, but a condition of any action figure purchases I was to make...
... and it was this. Unless I came across a figure I had really been wanting -- and even then it would have had to be at a relatively decent price -- I would not buy any single figure unless it cost less than $10. Keep reading to see if I was successful.
I know what you're thinking -- he's failed already! Just kidding. I know that's totally not what you're thinking, since the movie Fantastic Four figures pegwarmed for ages before going on to sit indefinitely in online store stashes and 99-cent eBay auctions. As part of a 4-for-$10 deal, these were $2.50 apiece. (Some would say that's too much, but Alba's headsculpt is nice and that Thing is awesome all around.)
And these two figures were part of the same deal. Jun Kazama I picked up because I have fond memories of Tekken 2 -- and because, if all else failed, at least her head would make decent custom fodder. And while I have no idea who Xenia Onatopp is (yeah, I know, I need to catch up on my Bond!), it's difficult to pass up a nifty-looking collectible like that... especially when one's deal-seeking nature requires one to buy no less than four items from a relatively limited selection.
Okay, maybe you're thinking I broke my rule now? Or probably not, since this figure is really cheap on the 'Bay -- even if the shipping for such a gargantuan beast drives the price up a penny with well above average looks. I dug him the figure out of a floor bin and got it for $5, which works for me!
So the plan succeeded for one day, but will I be able to stick to that goal two days in a row as I journey through a land rife with temptation? Stay tuned to Articulated Discussion to find out!
